Jazz: A style of
music
of Afro-American roots characterized by a strong
rhythmic under structure, blue
notes, and
improvisation on
melody and
chord
structure.
Jew's Harp: Also called jaw harp: A twanging sound is produced by holding this U-shaped
instrument between the teeth. Movements of the mouth alter the
pitch of the
sounds produced.
Jubilate: A song of
praise, usually based on Psalm 100.
Just Tuning: Any
system of tuning in which the intervals
are pure, and do
not deviate from the overtone
